The accident happened just after 11 p.m. in the northbound lane of I-77 near the 90 mile marker. A Bluebird bus traveling in the outside lane began to merge onto the emergency lane, according to the Highway Patrol. A 2008 Honda Pilot that was behind the Bluebird bus in the outside line attempted merge left into a middle lane when it sideswiped a 2008 Honda Accord. The Honda Pilot's driver lost control of the vehicle and ran into the back of the bus. The three people killed were all inside the Pilot.
3 Charlotte residents die in SC wreck
Authorities say three residents of Charlotte, North Carolina, died in a wreck on Interstate 77 in South Carolina that also injured four people.

York County Coroner Sabrina Gast says three cars were involved in the wreck, which occurred Friday night on I-77. Killed were 38-year-old Tei Paw, 33-year-old Khai Hne and 33-year-old Khai Tio. Gast says all were in the same car, and all were pronounced dead at the scene.

The three Charlotte residents killed Friday night in a three-car collision on I-77 have been identified as Tei Paw, 40; Khai Hne, 33; and Khai Tlo, 33; all three were passengers in the Honda Pilot involved in the crash. Four other people injured in the crash were transported to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The bus driver was not injured. The drivers of the Honda Accord and the Honda Pilot were taken to a hospital in Charlotte, along with two other passengers in the Pilot. According to the Highway Patrol, one of those killed was wearing a seatbelt but the other two were not.
