Man charged after Ridgeland wreck kills 1 woman, injures another

The Ridgeland Police Department has arrested a man after he caused a wreck that killed one and critically injured another, just after 2:30 p.m. The off-duty officer continued to follow the runaway driver, while relaying the information to 911 operators. The passenger, 56-year-old Cynthia Vidette Howard of Ridgeland, was transported to the Ridgeland Municipal Airport, where a Lifestar helicopter flew her to Memorial. The driver of the Lincoln, 76-year-old Jannie Lee Robert of Ridgeland, was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Lincoln lost control of the car, which ran off the road and struck a large tree.
