A 2011 GMC Sierra was eastbound when the driver, Tate Thompson, 18, Ethan, failed to negotiate a curve east of the intersection of 258th Street and 409th Avenue. The vehicle went into the south ditch. A female passenger, 17, of Mitchell, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital. The three other male occupants, including the driver, suffered minor injuries.
