A tractor-trailer driver is dead after a fiery crash on Interstate 240 eastbound at Millbranch Road on Thursday night.

The tractor-trailer left the road, hit the ditch and a fence before it burst into flames around 8:45 p.m.

Good Samaritans pulled 37-year-old Jamie Fore from the truck.

"As I got up to it I realized it was a truck that went off the road and went through the fence," said Steve Twele, who is also a truck driver. "The tractor just completely disintegrated and the cab had come loose from the truck ... was laying on its side and the trailer was engulfed in flames."

Twele and a few others pulled over on I-240, cut through the fences, and ran to help rescue Fore.

"There was a window that's above the cab and shines light into the sleeper, and it was busted out, and I looked in there and the driver was laying right there and he was injured very bad, but he was conscious. "

Twele called out to the driver and asked him to do everything he could to reach for the window. He and another man pulled Fore out and away from the truck before an ambulance arrived.

"The fire was on my mind the entire time, but I also knew that there was a person in the truck," said Twele."There was absolutely nobody there when I drove by; it had just happened. There was not a soul stopped, so I stopped and did what I could do."

Fore was sent in extremely critical condition to the Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
