A Sumner County school bus was involved in a fatal crash Thursday afternoon as it dropped a student off at a bus stop. The bus had recently left Bethpage Elementary School before the wreck on Highway 31. The bus had nine students on board when it had its flashing lights on, stop sign out and door open to let a child off, according to Sumner County Sheriff's Office investigators. A truck hauling a trailer then rear-ended the bus. The driver of the truck, 55-year-old David Trembly, of Scottsville, KY, was killed in the collision. The mother of the child who was exiting the bus at the time of the crash was standing nearby, holding an infant. When the truck hit the bus, the door of the bus hit the mother and baby, knocking them to the ground. The mother and baby were not seriously hurt. Three of the students on board the bus had minor injuries, and one of them had to go to Sumner Regional Medical Center for treatment but is expected to be OK.
