Interstate 24 on Saturday night became a chicken roast.

A truck carrying 48,000 lbs of chicken tenders crashed and caught on fire, according to a Tennessee Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

The crash, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. Saturday near mile marker 76 in Rutherford County, blocked the westbound lanes. By 1:30 p.m. today, the lanes were clear, Lambert reported.

Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department responded Saturday night to find the trailer fully engulfed in flames.

The driver of the Trans Freight, Inc. truck was able to unhook the trailer and drive the tractor a safe distance away before responders arrived on scene, McDonald said in the release. No one was injured in the incident, McDonald said.
