Police: Mom struck school officer with SUV over pick-up policy

A mom is accused of striking a school resource officer with her SUV Wednesday morning after she broke pick-up line protocol.

Police: Parent hits officer with SUV at West End Middle

On Dec. 9, 2014, Kenner was late picking up her child from a basketball game and the officer called the assistant principal and they all had a conversation about proper pick-up policies over speakerphone. Kenner became angry and slammed on the accelerator, causing the officer to jump backward to avoid being hit by the vehicle, police said.

Toya Kenner was was attempting to drive through a bus-only lane when the officer put out her hand to signal Kenner to stop. Kenner allegedly turned her wheels toward the officer and accelerated, knocking her over. Kenner then speed away from the scene. The officer was not visibly injured. Kenner apparently had another altercation with the resource officer in December of 2014. Kenner was taken to the Metro jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving. Her bond was set at $102,500.
