Woman killed, passenger injured after rock goes through car window

A load of large rocks spilled across the highway and struck the car. The woman was declared dead at the scene. Her husband was flown to an area hospital. 

U.S. 290 is open following fatal 18-wheeler collision

One person was taken by Stat Air to University Medical Center Brackenridge. The other patients were transported on the ground to St. David's Hospital in Bastrop.

A truck driver was also taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unclear and none of the people involved have been identified.

U.S. 290 closed following fatal 18-wheeler collision

Police received a call around 3:06 p.m. According to police, three passengers cars are also involved in the crash.

Construction rock flying through windshield kills woman in crash

Department officials identified the woman killed as Caroline McChrystal, a 70-year-old Austin resident. McChrystal was the passenger in a Mercedes GL450 westbound on U.S. 290 when she was struck, DPS said.
A Texas woman has died after a rock flew off of a semitrailer and through her car window during a crash Tuesday on U.S. 290 in Paige. The semi carrying rocks swerved into oncoming traffic in an attempt to avoid another vehicle. None of the people involved have been identified.
