Smithville fatal crash victim identified
SMITHVILLE, Texas — The driver pronounced deceased after crashing his vehicle into oncoming traffic in Smithville has been identified. According to Robbie Barrera with Texas DPS, Alex Silva, 26, of Bastrop was traveling northbound on SH-95 in Smithville when he according to reports, he tried to pass a vehicle directly in front of him. Silva was driving his 2011 Chevy Pickup truck. Silva made the attempt to pass going uphill in a "No Passing" zone.
