Veterans Memorial HS asst. band director dies in crash
According to CCPD, Lopez was in his car in the school parking lot near the Cimarron exit when his car was struck by an out of control pickup truck. The truck pushed Lopez's car into a tree. Lopez suffered fatal injuries. The 26-year old pickup truck driver is expected to be okay. Police say he was not intoxicated. His name has not been released. It's not clear what caused the man to lose control of his pickup truck. The crash is under investigation. There's no word yet if the driver will be charged.
