Alleged Drunk Texting And Driving Leads To Deadly Crash In HoodCounty

HOOD COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – A man on a motorcycle lost his life after being hit by a pickup truck. The driver of that pickup was allegedly drunk and texting and driving according to DPS Trooper Dub Gillum. LaDonna Welch, 36, of Lake City, South Carolina is in the Hood County Jail charged with intoxication manslaughter. West’s wife witnessed the deadly crash as she was on a motorcycle behind him. DPS says Welch was traveling south when she drifted into the northbound lane and hit David West, 53, on his motorcycle head-on.

Woman arrested on intoxication manslaughter charge in fatal Granbury crash

Welch, of Lake City, S.C., was arrested and faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter. She was in the Hood County Jail Monday morning.
