2 Adults Killed, Children Injured In I-45 Wrong-Way Crash

Two people have been killed in a deadly wrong-way crash on Interstate-45, in Freestone County. According to investigators, the accident happened around 11 a.m. That’s when the driver of a Chevy Silvardo pickup was traveling northbound on the southbound side of the highway. The pickup hit a Nissan Pathfinder with a husband, wife and several children inside.

Deadly Head-on Crash on I-45 near Corsicana

Five other children and an adult passenger injured in the crash have also been transported to Dallas hospitals, where their conditions have not been released. Three people have died and several others were injured after a head-on crash Monday morning on Interstate 45 in Freestone County, authorities say. All lanes of I-45 reopened after being closed for several hours. A 14-year-old passenger was later pronounced dead after he was transported to Children's Medical Center of Dallas. Two additional vehicles were also involved in the collision, and the people from those vehicles were transported to East Texas Medical Center Fairfield with non-life threatening injuries.

Richland man among three killed in I-45 crash

The DPS said James Edward Warren, 78, was the driver of a Chevy pickup truck driving the wrong way on the freeway, crashing head-on into a Nissan Pathfinder with eight people riding in it. Warren and the driver of the Nissan died at the scene. A 14-year-old boy in the Nissan died later Monday afternoon at a Dallas hospital.

Crash investigation continues; more victims identified

Colunga identified the driver of the Nissan Pathfinder as 31-year-old Aaron Palacios Mendoza of Dallas. Mendoza died when his vehicle was struck head-on by a pickup truck driven by James Edward Warren, 78, of Richland. Warren was driving north in the southbound lanes of the highway, investigators said. Warren also died at the scene near the 209 mile marker. A 14-year-old male riding in the Pathfinder died later Monday at a Dallas hospital.

I was one of the first, not the first on the scene.  The medics and the nurse from the U haul saved peoples life that day.  So many wonderful people doing everything they could to keep the children alive.  I was so sorry to hear that the young man died.  I hope his family responds well to care.  I feel for the family of the elderly man that was lost.
