Three Children Killed in West Dallas Crash: Police

Police said the female driver of a Dodge Stratus was at the stop sign facing south on Peoria and attempting to turn onto eastbound Singleton, when her vehicle was struck by a Nissan Sentra traveling westbound on Singleton. There were four children occupying the Stratus in addition to the driver.

Three children under the age of 13 were transported to Children's Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. A fourth child, age 13, was transported to the hospital in unknown condition, police said.

Both drivers were also hospitalized, but police said they are expected to survive their injuries. No names have been released.

All lanes of Singleton were closed as paramedics treated victims, police gathered evidence, and debris was removed from the six-lane boulevard.

Investigators said speed appears to be a factor in this fatal accident.
