Chase ends in major accident in Midlothian; 2 dead

Eastbound traffic was being diverted between Plainview and Walnut Grove near the scene of the “major accident,” according to the City of Midlothian. MIDLOTHIAN — A chase involving a suspect and multiple law enforcement agencies ended in a fatal crash Friday afternoon in Midlothian. Ellis County sheriff’s deputies and Waxahachie Police officers chased the suspect from Waxahachie to Midlothian. The suspect was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 287 and struck another car, according to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. John Spann of Midlothian Police stated on Twitter that the accident resulted in two fatalities.

The truck Garrett Blake Tolliver was driving was hit head-on by a suspect driving what police said was a stolen van. The suspect was also killed. Investigators said Friday the suspect stole the vehicle in Waxahachie and drove toward Midlothian. There is no word on the suspect’s identity at this time, Midlothian police said.
