Watauga police said Devon Jesse was hit by a car in the 5900 block of Watauga Road. He was rushed to thehospital , but did not survive. Witnesses reportedly chased down the driver who hit him and convinced her to stop.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office ruled the death an accident that was caused by a “skateboarder-motor vehicle collision.” Police are still investigating the exact cause.

The driver, whom police have not identified, has not been cited. Police say their investigation has determined the driver continued approximately 600 feet beyond the point of impact and stopped at a nearby service station, where a witness informed her that her vehicle had just struck a person. The driver then immediately returned to the scene and waited for police to arrive, police said.
