The deputy also was flown by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Center. He suffered a broken leg among other injuries and was listed in serious condition.
Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor.
Harris County deputy injured in car accident
One woman is dead and two men injured, including a sheriff's deputy, after a head-on collision in west Harris County, Texas. The incident occured around 3:00 a.m. Friday morning in the 15300 block of Clay Road next to North Eldridge Parkway when the deputy was driving a marked squad car eastbound on Clay Road. It was then that Ford Fusion slammed into the squad car travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes. Deputy D. Johnson, 37, was flown to Memorial Hermann/The Texas Medical Center with a broken leg and other injuries. The driver of the Ford, Liobardo Reyes, 24, was airlifted to the same hospital in critical condition. The passenger in the Ford, a woman, died at the scene. Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.
