Harris County sheriff's deputies are looking for the pickup truck involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash. Investigators say around 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, a mother and son were trying to cross Woodforest Boulevard near Grassmont, east of I-10 and the Beltway. The son, in his 20s, made it across safely, but when the mother tried to cross, she was hit by an oncoming truck. "He [son] told his mother to come on across the road, as she was coming across the road the truck sped up and struck the female," said a deputy with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The woman died at the scene, according to deputies. Investigators are not sure why the driver of the truck would speed up or if the driver was impaired at the time of the collision. The driver of the truck, described as a blue Dodge 1500 quad cab, kept driving and did not stop. The sheriff's office said 28-year-old Erik Garza turned himself into authorities Thursday morning. Garza is charged with failing to stop and render aid in the woman's death.
