PD: Man racing along Galveston Seawall charged in deadly accident

GALVESTON, Texas - A man who was street racing has been charged after causing a deadly accident along the Galveston Seawall, according to Galveston police. Investigators say Carlos Mendez, 18, was racing two vehicles  in the 100 block of Seawall Blvd., known as '€œCherry Hill" on Sunday evening. Mendez was charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault with a combined bond total of $100,000. Officials say the driver of the SUV was taken to John Sealy Hospital, where he is in critical condition. Police have not released the names of the SUV occupants, but say the two were Wisconsin residents visiting the island for the day.
