A woman who survived a car crash in north Houston was killed in another accident moments after the initial crash, according to witnesses.

The first accident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday on the North Loop near the North Freeway. Police said the woman was taking the exit ramp when she lost control of her car and crashed into a barricade.

Then for some reason, police said the driver got out of her car and stood on the freeway.

According to officers, another driver noticed the woman, stopped, and tried to convince her to get back in the car -- telling her it wasn't safe -- but she refused.

Moments later, a driver in an Impala hit the woman's car, which then struck the initial crash victim, killing her. The witness who tried to help the woman was not injured.

Detectives believe the victim as well as the driver of the Impala may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
