An autistic boy was killed by an alleged drunk driver in southwest Houston Saturday, a few hours after he got separated from his father during a bike ride.

A 12-year-old boy was hit and killed by an alleged drunk driver while walking in the street, according to Houston Police.

Police said the family reported the boy missing around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when they noticed he was gone.
Two hours later, the boy was walking on S. Post Oak near Main Street on the overpass. Police said he was walking in the street because there were no sidewalks.
A suspected drunk driver then hit the boy in the street, according to HPD. He died at the scene.
The male driver is charged with DWI. The case is being referred to the District Attorney for possible charges relating to the boy's death.
UPDATE: The boy in this accident has been identified as Alvester Bowens. The driver has been identified as Gilberto Aguirre.
