Authorities have identified a 14-year-old girl who was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run collision when she dashed in to a darkened, rain-slick roadway in northwest Harris County.

Authorities have identified a 14-year-old girl who was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run collision when she dashed in to a darkened, rain-slick roadway in northwest Harris County.

Nicole Ruekwe died in the incident that occurred about 6:50 p.m. in the 5500 block of Barker Cypress near River Sage, according to the Harris county Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Ruekwe was trying to cross the street when a vehicle hit her. As she lay on the pavement, another vehicle may also have hit her.

Both drivers sped away.

Deputies said the roadway is not lit in the area where the incident happened and it was heavily raining at the time of the collision.

No descriptions of the vehicles or the drivers were available.
