One person was injured after an accident in west Houston Thursday.

It happened in the 18000 block of South Park View Drive.

The speed limit there is 30 miles per hour, but police believe the woman behind the wheel was driving much faster.

Investigators tell us the woman, who's believed to be in her 30s, was driving east on South Park View toward Barker Cypress when she lost control of her Dodge Challenger, hitting a median then an oak tree.

"The car looks like it hit one of the larger oak trees in the median, and it bounced off the side of the tree after making initial impact thus peeling back the passenger side of the car almost like a tin can," Houston Police Department Capt. Kenneth Campbell said.

That young woman was taken from the scene via LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. She is expected to recover.

No one else was hurt or involved in this accident

Police say there's no immediate evidence of drugs or alcohol, but the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
