Man charged in fatal crash in SE Houston

Houston police say Jose A. Ortega Vasquez, 28, was traveling with two men northbound on the Gulf Freeway when all of a sudden he lost control. The driver then ran into a median and swerved into a light pole.

A driver is facing serious charges after getting into a deadly crash that killed two passengers.

Houston police say Jose A. Ortega Vasquez, 28, was traveling with two men northbound on the Gulf Freeway when all of a sudden he lost control.

The driver then ran into a median and swerved into a light pole.

According to police, the impact caused the car to roll over.

Vasquez survived the crash, but his two passengers were thrown from the car and died at the scene.

The driver of the car remains hospitalized with non-life threatening-injuries.

Vasquez has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
