A bike rider was struck just before 4:30 a.m. in the 8600 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. According to police, officer R. Scott had a green light and was entering the intersection when he did not see the cyclist and struck him. The cyclist died at the scene, while the officer was minorly injured.
