Child accidentally hit by grandfather's truck dies
The girl was in the front yard with her grandmother when her grandfather got into the truck. He was about to pull into the driveway when the girl broke free and ran toward him, police said.
A 22-month-old girl was struck and killed at about 6:45 p.m. on the street in front of a home in the 8700 block of Varner Road near Creek Drive Tuesday. She apparently ran into the path of her grandfather's pickup truck as he was pulling into the driveway, and he did not see the toddler. She was struck and died at the scene. No charges are expeced.
