Driver hurt after car strikes rail, bursts into flames; U.S. 90 lanes back open.

San Antonio police and fire units responded to a vehicle fire on U.S. Highway 90 near Zarzamora at about 7:30 a.m. Monday.

SAPD officers on the scene said the driver lost control of his car and struck a rail. The car then burst into flames.
Three people pulled over and got him out of the car before emergency crews arrived, police said.

The driver was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Traffic was being diverted from the eastbound lanes of U.S. 90 while the accident was being cleaned up. Westbound lanes also were slow through the area.
