Man dies in fiery wreck on Loop 1604.

A man, 24, died Monday after his Acura crossed Loop 1604, smashed into three cars and burst into flames.

A man, 24, died Monday after his Acura crossed Loop 1604, smashed into three cars and burst into flames.

The man, who has not been identified, was driving east in the 8000 block of the highway on the Northwest Side just after 7:30 p.m. when he lost control for an unknown reason, according to the San Antonio Police Department. The Acura went into the center median, slid sideways and came out in the westbound lanes of the highway, according to police.

The Acura hit the side of a white Honda headed west, according to police. The Acura then spun around and was hit by a Chrysler van traveling west, and then by a Ford SUV, according to police.

The Acura then burst into flames and the man was unable to get out, according to police.

Emergency medical technicians pronounced the man dead minutes later. The medical examiner's office has not been able to positively identify him, authorities said.

The people in the other vehicles sustained minor injuries, according to police.
