BCSO: One dead after drunken wrong-way driver slams head on into teen driver

The woman driving the Sonata died minutes after the crash. The driver of the Maxima, a 17-year-old female, was flown to University Hospital in critical condition.

The 57-year-old, wrong-way driver was pronounced dead at the scene after deputies said she drove up an exit ramp wrong way, hitting speeds up to 80 miles an hour.

A Somerset ISD spokesperson said Wednesdaythat Gamez has already had one surgery and is expected to have at least two more.

Fundraiser held for teen critically injured in accident

The Somerset community came together Sunday to help support Andrea Gamez, the teen who was injured two weeks ago when a wrong-way driver slammed into her car.

A fundraiser was held Sunday at the Dairy Queen in Somerset.

Kiolbassa makes donation to family of teen injured in crash

"I really want to thank Kiolbassa Provision Company," Cynthia Gamez, Andrea's mother said. "I know you don't even know us, but to call out just like that, it's beautiful."
