A 25-year-old West Jordan man was ejected from his vehicle and killed Saturday morning in Sardine Canyon. Police believe the accident occurred between 7:15 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. near mile marker 16 on Highway 89-91. They received a call from another motorist who spotted Weston R. Love lying in a field. When police arrived at 8:35 a.m., Love had died. Police then located his gray 2011 Jeep Cherokee nearby. Cache County sheriff Sgt. Lee Perry said Love appeared to have been driving about 90 mph heading north toward the mouth of the canyon when he began to drift left into rumble strips. He panicked, swerved back to the right, and his vehicle spun off the roadway, went airborne over a 10-foot-high fence post and crashed into a rock ditch 20 yards away. Love was not wearing a seatbelt and was found 45 feet away from where the Jeep first hit the rock ditch, while the vehicle itself vaulted again and came to rest 120 feet away from the first impact. Police have no indication that alcohol was a factor.
