Man, 21, critical and 5 others injured after multi-vehicle wreck on State Road 36 in Tooele County, Utah
Man remains critical after multi-vehicle crash in Tooele County
The Utah Highway Patrol continued to investigate the initial cause of the 3:49 p.m. Sunday accidents, including whether the 21-year-old man, driving southbound in a Toyota sedan, triggered the accidents by sideswiping a southbound Acura. The impact forced both vehicles to careen across the median, where the Toyota then struck an oncoming Chevrolet pickup truck, UHP Sgt. Todd Royce said.
That second collision ejected the Toyota's driver, who was not wearing a seat belt. He was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Salt Lake City hospital with extensive, life-threatening injuries, troopers reported.
After an injury car accident, take these steps to help the recovery process
When someone has been injured in a car crash, it's hard to know what to do to help. Injured people need appropriate medial treatment, but they also need to have their civil and legal rights protected.
After a serious crash, several steps need to be taken, including dealing with the insurance companies, tracking and documenting lost income from missed work, coordinating medical bill payments, and handling an insurance claim.
