Bill Robert Thompson, 45, was found guilty by a jury in June of first-degree felony murder, as well as two counts of third-degree felony aggravated assault in connection with the May 2014 death of Susan Madsen. On Wednesday, L. Douglas Hogan ordered Thompson to serve a 15-years-to-life prison term for the count and up to five years in prison on each of the aggravated assault counts.

One person was killed and a half dozen others were injured when the driver of a pickup truck ran a red light in Draper and collided with other vehicles, police said.
