Man reportedly impaled by pole during vehicle crash near Logan suffers fatal injuries
“I’ve been told that he was impaled, but I don’t know the details,” Thurston said of the crash.
A 68-year-old Smithfield man was killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred on US 89-91 near 3100 South in the Logan area on May 9th. According to the Logan City Police Department, the driver had drifted left of center off the roadway, hit some bushes and a fence, and then vaulted into a nearby field, where the vehicle came to rest. A pole appears to have gone through the front of the vehicle and penetrated through the engine area and into the driver’s area of the vehicle, where he was apparently impaled. The driver later died at Logan Regional Hospital.
