Tyson Lloyd Shoemaker, 18, dies in skiing accident at Beaver Mountain ski area, Utah
UPDATE: Skiing accident takes life of USU student at Beaver Mountain
According to a press release prepared by Lt. Mike Peterson, Tyson Lloyd Shoemaker of Camano Island, Washington, lost control while he was skiing, causing him to run off of the groomed ski run and hit a tree.
Other skiers witnessed the accident and contacted the Beaver Mountain ski patrol for help, Peterson said. However, Shoemaker was not breathing when the call was made to dispatchers at 1:50 p.m., and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.
