Teen scooter rider dies of injuries in St. George crash

An 18-year-old man has died of his injuries after being struck by a car as he lay on a St. George street following a motor scooter crash Tuesday.

Around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, an 18-year-old scooter identified as Scott Wesley Jones driver was eastbound on 700 South, an Interstate 15 underpass, when he lost control and crashed. Jones was thrown from the scooter. A passing car stopped and its driver activated his hazard lights, but a second vehicle passed the stopped car and struck the scooter rider where he lay on the ground. Jones suffered severe head trauma, and was brought to Dixie Regional Medical Center, where he died Tuesday night.
