SLCPD: Bicyclist hit by truck remains critical, but improving

On Monday, Heiden said, his family reported he remained critical but was improving. The truck was westbound on North Temple at the time of the crash, while the bicyclist was riding southbound on Main when the accident occurred at 10:28 p.m. Salt Lake City police continued Monday to investigate the circumstances that led up to a nearly fatal truck vs. bicycle accident. Robin Heiden said it remained uncertain whether the 21-year-old male bicyclist or the 51-year-old male driver who collided with him late Friday night at Main and North Temple streets had run a red light. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Previous news reports indicated that the bicyclist died from his injuries.
