Three transported to hospital after truck hits fire engine in Hampton

Three people were injured Tuesday morning when a pickup truck hit a Hampton Fire engine in Hampton.

"I was just standing there watching the whole thing," Santifuls said while taking a lunch break at the nearby 7-Eleven. "Had we not laid that curb in front of gas station...it could have been a lot worse."

The intersection at Woodland Road and Andrews Boulevard was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

At 10:55 a.m. at the intersection of Andrews Boulevard and Woodland Road, a blue GMC pickup hit a fire engine. The impact of the crash caused the fire engine to hit a Volkswagen that was traveling on Woodland Road. The engine was not en route to an emergency at the time of the crash. The drivers of all three vehicles were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
