Patrick Danforth, 36, dies when SUV strikes him while helping move disabled car on Route 17 in Gloucester County, Virginia
Man killed on Route 17 while assisting disabled vehicle
According to Virginia State Police, Patrick Danforth was killed after another car hit him around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
“Patrick would help anyone, in any situation,” said Pam Carteret, a family friend.
Danforth, 36, had exited his vehicle near the intersection of Route 17 and Providence Road to help push the disabled car out of the roadway. Danforth then crossed the northbound lane, which had a green light and was struck by a 1992 Suzuki Sidekick. He died upon impact. No one else was hurt.

Patrick Danforth, passed away helping others on December 15, 2015. He leaves his 5 brothers and sisters, mother, and son. He was a kind soul who would help anyone at anytime. Recently he had suffered a spinal injury which caused him agonizing pain constantly but that didnt stop him from trying to help someone in need. Patrick stopped to help someone whos car broke down and in the process of assisting them was struck by a car. He was a kind soul. God needed an angel and called Patrick home to a pain free world where he could play his music and make entertain all the angels in the sky. Patrick always looked to help, his mother, sisters, brothers, his son and any stranger he passed on the street. This is how he passed by helping someone in need. We ask for any assistance possible to help his family in need to help for funeral cost. If you knew Patrick you know that he could always be counted on if he could help you he would.
