Alexandria Mendez of Fairfax was arrested early Wednesday and is currently being held in the Arlington County Detention Facility without bond after being charged with aggravated malicious wounding, malicious wounding, two counts of hit and run, and driving on a suspended license. Around 4:45 p.m., Mendez was driving a light-colored Toyota SUV, possibly a Highlander, the wrong way into the parking lot of MK Auto Sales and Service on the 3600 block of Columbia Pike. The business is owned by Shaikh. When Mendez attempted to turn around, she hit at least one car. At this point, the owner and another employee rushed out to stop the woman from leaving, and one of them closed the front gate of the business in an effort to keep the driver there until police arrived. In response, the woman gunned the vehicle, running over the foot of one victime, and running over and dragging Shaikh for several feet. She then fled the scend and was later arrested. Shaikh is in critical condition at George Washington Hospital.
