Madison teen dies in crash early Thursday

At about 2:30 a.m., a 2000 Mercury Cougar driven by Anthony Lee Compton, 21, was traveling south on U.S. 15 when he lost control, ran off the road to the left and struck a line of cedar trees about a half-mile north of Cedar Ridge Road, Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Les Tyler said. His passenger, Lily Lambert, of Brightwood, died at the scene. Compton, of Orange, was treated and released from a local hospital and has been charged with reckless driving, Tyler said.
