One person has died in the wake of a plane crash in a wooded area near Paine Field in Everett.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 tweeted 40 minutes later firefighters found the plane. First responders had to cut through a chain-link fence to get to the scene.

"It's a heavily wooded area which made it difficult to reach," said Paine Field Fire Chief Jeff Bohnet. "It is very thick, thick brush, so it's not timber. My initial crew that went in there went through with machetes. It was a good challenge getting to the plane, initially."

The plane had two occupants. One, a 72-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.Luck died at the scene.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. a small plane crashed in the 11800 block of Mukilteo Speedway, just south of Paine Field's runway. Firefighters extracted two people from the wreckage. Emergency crews were attempting CPR on one person but it has been reported that one person is deceased. Check back for more information as it becomes available.
