A 17-year-old girl was killed Saturday when she was hit by a train near Silvana, and one of her companions barely survived. They were walking along the trestle near a swimming hole near the Stillaguamish River. Two other girls were on the trestle when a northbound freight train approached. The girls tried to run off the trestle -- one teen survived, but the 17-year-old was hit. Crews on the train attempted CPR on the girl but were unsuccessful.
