The SUV pushed the other car up onto the sidewalk, striking the stroller as well as the child's 25-year-old mother. Investigators said the drivers were cooperating with the investigation, and neither drugs nor alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.

So far, police have determined that a 1999 Dodge Durango driven by a 29-year-old Kirkland woman was traveling south on 140th Avenue. It remained at the crash scene so that investigators could interview passengers who witnessed the crash. Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash, Mylett said. A 28-month-old girl in a stroller was hit by one of the vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Bellevue Police Chief Steve Mylett. The Sentra careened onto the sidewalk in the crash and hit the stroller.

Police: Driver didn't yield, likely causing crash that killed toddler

Bellevue Police said Wednesday that the 43-year-old male driver of a Nissan Sentra failed to yield the right of way when he turned left in front of an oncoming Dodge Durango.
