Multi-vehicle crash blocks all lanes of I-405, jams morning commute

A multi-vehicle crash is blocking all lanes of northbound I-405 just north of NE 8th Street in Bellevue. Between eight to 10 vehicles are involved, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Drivers are using the right shoulder to get around, but traffic is quickly backing up. The commute from Federal Way to Bellevue is up to 85 minutes.

The commute from Federal Way to Bellevue increased to more than an hour and there was a 10-mile backup. The number of vehicles involved in a crash on I-405 Tuesday morning just kept growing. Initial reports showed eight to 10 vehicles smashed into each other on the highway just north of NE 8th Street in Bellevue. There were some injuries, Washington State Trooper Chris Webb said. "The freeway is all but closed down," KIRO Radio traffic reporter Chris Sullivan said during the morning mess.
