A man speeding away from police crashed a stolen car into a woman who was driving home from work near Des Moines, leaving her critically injured Wednesday night.

 

A man speeding away from police crashed a stolen car into a woman who was driving home from work near Des Moines, leaving her critically injured Wednesday night. Both drivers were in intensive care at Harborview Medical Center. As the man was being cut from the wreckage, he asked deputies if the woman he hit was still alive. The 51-year-old victim had no time to react. Investigators said the driver of the stolen car slid across the centerline, crushing her car head-on.
