Man killed in head-on collision in Lake Stevens

A 22-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision Thursday in Lake Stevens, police said.

A 22-year-old Lake Stevens man was killed and two other people were seriously injured in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon on State Route 92 at Lake Drive Northeast.

The crash was reported about 4 p.m. near the intersection of Lake Drive and Highway 92, just east of Highway 9, Lake Stevens police Cmdr. Dennis Taylor said.

A 22-year-old Lake Stevens man was headed west on state Highway 92, also known as the Granite Falls Highway, at around 4 p.m. when he apparently swerved to avoid hitting another car that had stopped to make a left turn. According to police, the man’s car crashed into an oncoming pickup truck at Lake Drive Northeast. The adult male driver of the pickup and his juvenile female passenger were seriously injured and transported to the hospital. The 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
