Car crash caused gas leak that forced 150 people to evacuate homes overnight in West Seattle
Police and firefighters knocked on the doors of many neighbors telling them to leave for their own safety.
Gas was spilling into the air after a car crash early Friday morning in the area of SW Holden St & Highland Park Way SW.
Officials told Q13 News they evacuated neighbors because something could have ignited the gas and caused an explosion.
Car crash causes major gas leak
People on a Metro bus spotted the driver speeding by them right before the crash.
“Saw the car flip over into the gas line and I ran over to it and saw two guys struggling inside,” said witness Adam Goodrich. "They lost control. They were going about 80 miles an hour or so we decided, and went straight into the hill."
