Melany R. Mirelez, 30, killed; Matthew J. Mirelez, 25, and 3-year-old girl injured in single-car crash on Van Belle Road and Brien Lane in Yakima County, Washington
One killed, two injured in Granger-area crash
The State Patrol said intoxicants were a factor in the accident.
A press memo from the Washington State Patrol says a white 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by 25-year-old Matthew J. Mirelez was eastbound on Van Belle Road approaching Brien Lane when Mirelez swerved to miss a dog in the roadway. The driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll. Mirelez and a 3-year-old girl who was in the back seat were transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital. A front seat passenger, Melany R. Mirelez, 30, died from injuries sustained in the crash, which happened at 9:48 p.m. Saturday about two miles east of Granger. Everyone in the car was wearing a seat belt.
After an injury car accident, take these steps to help the recovery process
When someone has been injured in a car crash, it's hard to know what to do to help. Injured people need appropriate medial treatment, but they also need to have their civil and legal rights protected.
After a serious crash, several steps need to be taken, including dealing with the insurance companies, tracking and documenting lost income from missed work, coordinating medical bill payments, and handling an insurance claim.
