Tragic Loss: 16-Year-Old Jerin Bucher Dies in Saturday Morning Motorcycle Accident on Loucks Road

A devastating motorcycle crash in the Town of Grover, Marinette County, claimed the life of 16-year-old Jerin Bucher of Green Bay on Saturday morning, June 28, 2025. The fatal incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. when deputies were initially called to what was reported as a possible ATV crash on Loucks Road near England Road. Upon arrival, first responders discovered that Bucher had been operating a sport motorcycle traveling westbound on Loucks Road when he lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle subsequently crashed into a roadside ditch, resulting in fatal injuries despite Bucher wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The Marinette County Sheriff's Office has identified speed as a contributing factor in the crash. Emergency response included the Grover-Porterfield Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center Bay Area EMS, and 180 Auto Towing and Recovery, who all assisted at the scene. Bucher was pronounced dead at the accident location. The incident remains under active investigation by both the Marinette County Sheriff's Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner's Office as authorities work to determine the complete circumstances surrounding this tragic loss of life.

Location and Infrastructure

The accident occurred on Loucks Road near England Road in the Town of Grover, a rural area in Marinette County located in northeast Wisconsin. The Town of Grover has a population of 1,729 and represents a typical rural Wisconsin community with country roads that can present unique challenges for motorcyclists. Loucks Road, like many rural routes in Marinette County, serves local traffic and connects residential areas with main transportation corridors. The intersection area near England Road is characteristic of rural Wisconsin road networks, where county and town roads intersect in predominantly agricultural and residential zones. Marinette County is part of WisDOT's Northeast Region, which includes Brown, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Oconto, Outagamie, Sheboygan, and Winnebago counties. Rural roads in this region typically feature posted speed limits appropriate for local traffic, though enforcement can be challenging given the expansive area covered by county law enforcement. The road conditions and traffic control devices in the area would be maintained by local authorities, with visibility and road surface conditions playing important roles in motorcycle safety on these quieter rural routes.

Legal Rights and Considerations

Under Wisconsin state law, there is a three-year statute of limitations for personal injury claims related to motorcycle accidents, though this tragic case resulted in a fatality rather than injury. Wisconsin follows an at-fault insurance system, meaning the party that was legally responsible for causing the accident should pay damages to the injured party. For motorcycle operators in Wisconsin, motorcyclists must carry minimum liability insurance including $10,000 in property damage per accident, $25,000 in bodily injury per person per accident, and $50,000 in total bodily injury per accident, plus uninsured motorist coverage. In cases involving single-vehicle motorcycle accidents where speed is a factor, families may still have legal options to explore, particularly if road conditions, vehicle defects, or other contributing factors are identified. Compensation in motorcycle accident cases can include medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and property damage. Wisconsin operates under comparative negligence laws, meaning you may recover damages even if you were partly at fault for the crash as long as your percentage of fault is less than 51% of the total fault. Families facing such tragic circumstances should consult with experienced personal injury attorneys who understand the complexities of motorcycle accident law and can help navigate insurance claims and potential legal proceedings while respecting the sensitive nature of fatal accident cases.
