Deadly motorcycle crash in Columbia County
The call came in via 911 just after 3:00 p.m. The caller reported a motorcyclist struck a deer and the driver was laying in the roadway. It was initially reported the driver was unconscious and seriously injured.
Within minutes, two Columbia County Deputies were on scene, as well as rescue personnel and paramedics. The operator of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet and did not have any passengers. Citizens, deputies and EMT's provided medical care to him, as he was critically injured.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
