SHEBOYGAN COUNTY — Officials identified on Thursday, January 21st the two victims of a wrong-way, head-on crash on I-43 near Oostburg. As deputies were en route, they learned a head-on crash had occurred near Mile Marker 113. Around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sheboygan County Sheriff’s officials received a call regarding a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-43, south of Oostburg. They are identified as 84-year-old Richard Brill of Oostburg and 35-year-old Mark Graceffa of Grafton. The southbound lanes of I-43 were closed between County Road AA in Oostburg and Highway 32 in Cedar Grove.

911 calls released from wrong-way crash in Sheboygan County

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- Officials have released the 911 calls from Wednesday's double fatal, wrong-way crash on I-43 in Sheboygan County. The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office tells FOX6 News 84-year-old Richard Brill of Oostburg was traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-43 when he struck a car driven by 35-year-old Mark Graceffa of Grafton. Both drivers died at the scene. Investigators will look at whether any medications or medical conditions are to blame.

Two people killed in wrong-way crash on I-43 southbound

Two people were killed in a crash on Interstate 43 southbound at County Road AA in Oostburg. The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department said a person in their mid-80s was going northbound in the southbound lanes at full highway speed and hit another vehicle. The driver of the second car was in their mid-30s. The two drivers were the only occupants of each vehicle.

As deputies were en route, they learned a head-on crash had occurred near Mile Marker 113. The drivers of both of the vehicles involved were killed. Sheriff’s officials say a Pontiac, driven by a man in his mid-80s, was headed the wrong way on I-43 prior to the crash. The other vehicle, a Honda, was being driven by a man in his mid-30s.

Traffic snarled on I-43 due to crash

The DOT urged drivers to exit I-43 South at County Highway AA, then to take Highway AA to Sauk Trail Road and follow Sauk Trail Road south back to I-43.

First responders from Cedar Grove and Oostburg were at the scene of the crash.

Two killed in wrong-way crash on I-43 in Sheboygan County

The crash was reported about 5:30 p.m. on southbound I-43 near mile marker 115 near Oostburg, Sgt. Randy Haag of the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office said. According to Haag, the sheriff's office was notified of a motorist driving north in the southbound lanes of the highway shortly before the crash.
